Compress an image to 100 KB

Start with a 100 KB limit. The tool adjusts quality first, then dimensions if you allow it. Every result shows its actual size and whether the target was reached.

1 KB = 1,000 bytes. Settings apply to new files; use Recompress batch to update existing results.

Make a file fit an upload limit

  1. Check the destination’s format and pixel requirements.
  2. Choose JPG or WebP before adding your image.
  3. Keep the 100 KB target, then choose your file.
  4. Read the final size and dimensions. Look for “target met.”
  5. Inspect the preview, download, and verify the saved file in your upload form.

When 100 KB loses too much detail

Dense screenshots and small printed text can become hard to read at this size. Keep your original. If the form requires sharp text and fixed dimensions, a higher file-size limit may be necessary; compression cannot preserve unlimited detail in a tiny file.

For example, if an upload form requires a 600 × 600 JPG under 100 KB, first set those dimensions in the image resizer, then return here and turn off dimension reduction. If the result misses the limit, lower maximum quality and recompress.

Need 200 KB, 500 KB or another limit? Change the size above or use the general image compressor. Read the file-size troubleshooting guide for more options.

Frequently asked questions

Is the result exactly 100 KB?+

The goal is at or below 100,000 bytes, not exactly 100 KB. Encoding varies with image detail and browser support. If the tool cannot meet the limit, the result is clearly marked rather than silently claiming success.

Will my image dimensions change?+

Only if the reduce-dimensions checkbox is enabled and lowering quality is not enough. Turn it off if a form requires exact dimensions, then inspect whether the size target can still be met.

Which output should I choose for an upload form?+

Check the form’s accepted formats first. JPG is commonly accepted for photos; WebP is useful when the destination supports it. PNG input is accepted, but this tool exports JPG or WebP. JPG places transparency on a white background.
